unior Dragon George was elected the Rochdale Borough Children’s Champion at a ceremony at Rochdale Town Hall on Tuesday 4 July. George beat five other finalists in the competition, organised by Rochdale Youth Service.
George’s manifesto outlined his priorities; countryside awareness and increased outdoor learning, getting children to learn basic first aid, and encouraging children and young people to communicate with the elderly, including building links between schools and care homes.
George said that he felt he would be a good Champion as he was a good listener, he has previous school council experience and he will take on young people’s concerns.
George achieving this fantastic role is evidence of his continuing success on Kaizen-Do Karate’s Lifeskill and Character-development programme. George is a true ambassador for Kaizen-Do Karate and we are very proud of him and wish him all the best in his new role.
As well as his active involvement in Karate, George is also a keen member of a local theatre company and also his school brass band – a true community champion!
